mordĕo , mŏmordi (archaic memordi;
I.v. in the foll.), morsum, 2, v. a. root smard-; Sanscr. mard-, bite; Gr. σμερδνός, σμερδαλέος; (cf. Engl. smart), to bite, to bite into (class.).
