Asiatic Style of Oratory

The florid style, abounding in tropes and rhetorical display, and thus opposed to the Attic Style (q. v.). Of the Asiatic School at Rome, Hortensius (q.v.) was the most conspicuous example. See Cicero, Brutus, 95.
