Cerné

（Κέρνη). An island without the Pillars of Hercules, on the African coast, mentioned by Hanno (q.v.) in his Periplus, but not identified with any known to-day. Here he established a colony, and it was always the depot of the Carthaginians on the Atlantic coast of Africa. Hanno says that it was the same distance from the Columns of Hercules that Carthage was.
