Iugĕrum

and Iugus. A Roman measure of surface=240X120 feet, or 28,800 square feet, and hence=5/8 of an English acre. It was the common measure of land, two iugera forming an heredium, one hundred heredia forming a centuria, and four centuriae a saltus.
