Pinnes, Pinneus

or Pineus. The son of Agron, king of Illyria, by his first wife, Triteuta. At the death of Agron (B.C. 231) Pinnes, who was then a child, was left in the guardianship of his stepmother Teuta, whom Agron had married after divorcing Triteuta. When Teuta was defeated by the Romans, the care of Pinnes devolved upon Demetrius of Pharos; but when Demetrius in his turn made war against the Romans and was defeated, Pinnes was placed upon the throne by the Romans, but was compelled to pay tribute (Livy, xxii. 33).
