Pomptorius
Gaius. A Roman who was praetor in B.C. 63 when he
aided Cicero in arresting the Allobrogian ambassadors who had been negotiating with the
Catilinarian conspirators. In the year 61 he defeated the Allobroges, and in 54 triumphed
(Sall.
Cat. 45).
