Popŭlus
A collective name for the whole body of Roman citizens of whatever rank or class.
Originally it is likely that only the patrician Romans were regarded as fully possessed of
citizenship; but from the time of the establishment of the Republic (B.C. 507) the plebeians
were also restored as a part of the
populus Romanus. See
