Santŏnes

or Santŏni. A powerful people in Gallia Aquitanica, dwelling on the coast of the ocean, north of the Garumna (Garonne). Under the Romans they were a free people. Their chief town was Mediolanum, afterwards Santones (Saintes) (B. G. i. 10).
