Semnŏnes

more rarely Sennŏnes. A German people, described by Tacitus as the most powerful tribe of the Suevic race, dwelt between the rivers Viadus (Oder) and Albis (Elbe), from the Riesengebirge in the south as far as the country around Frankfort on the Oder and Potsdam in the north (Tac. Germ. 39; Ptol.ii. 11, 15).
