APODIDRASKINDA

APODIDRASKINDA (ἀποδιδρασκίνδα), the game of hide and seek, played by the children in Greece, exactly as in our days. It is represented in a painting found at Herculaneum. (Pollux, 9.17; cf. φυγίνδα or φευγίνδα, Theogn. in Bekk. Anecd. p. 1353; Ant. d'Arcol. i. tav. xxxiii.; Daremberg and Saglio, s.v. Hermann, Griech. Antiqu. iv.3 p. 298).
