DABASAE
DABASAE (
Δαβάσαι,
Ptol. 7.2.18), a people of the district called by the ancients “India intra Gangem,” to the east of
Nipál. There is some doubt about the orthography of their name, which is sometimes written Labasae. They are probably connected with the range of mountains called
τὰ Δάμασσα ὄρη (
Ptol. 7.2.18), and which are most likely represented by the eastern spur of the
Nipál Himalayas. [
