JOVIS PROMONTORIUM (Δίος ἄκρα, Ptol. 7.4.4), a promontory mentioned by Ptolemy, at the S. end of the island of Taprobane (Ceylon). Its exact position cannot be identified, but it must have been in the neighbourhood of the present Point du Galle, if it be not the same.
