APOBATHMI
Eth.
APOBATHMI (
Ἀπόβαθοι), a small place in Argolis, near the frontiers of Cynuria, was said to have been so called from Danaus landing at this spot. (
Paus. 2.38.4.)
The surrounding country was also called Pyramia (
Πυράμια), from the monuments in the form of pyramids found here. (
Plut. Pyrrh. 32; Ross,
Reisen im Peloponnes, p. 152.)
