AQUAE LABANAE

AQUAE LABANAE (τὰ Λαβανὰ ὕδατα), are mentioned by Strabo (v. p.238) as cold sulphureous [p. 1.169]waters analogous in their medical properties to those of the Albula, and situated near Nomentum: they are clearly the same now called Bagni di Grotta Marozza about 3 miles N. of Mentana, the ancient Nomentum. (Nibby, Dintorni di Roma, vol. ii. p. 144.)
