AROSAPES

AROSAPES (Plin. Nat. 6.23; Arusaces, Mela, 3.7), a river of Ariana, in the SE. part of Persia; conjectured by Forbiger (Alt. Geogr. vol. ii. p. 537) to be the same as the modern Arghasan, one of the tributaries of the Helmend. From Mela it would seem to have been in the district of Pattalene.
