ASAEI (
Ἀσαῖι), a people of Sarmatia Asiatica, near the Suardeni and the upper course of the Tanaïs. (
Ptol. 5.9.16). They are also mentioned by Pliny, according to the common text, as having been, before his time, among the most celebrated peoples of Scythia; but Sillig gives a different reading, namely Chroasai. (
Plin. Nat. 6.17. s. 19.)
