AZO´RUS

AZO´RUS (Ἄζωρος, Ἀζώριον, Ptol. 3.13.42: Eth. Ἀζωρίτης), a town in Perrhaebia in Thessaly [p. 1.355]situated at the foot of Mount Olympus. Azorus, with the two neighbouring towns of Pythium and Doliche, formed a Tripolis. (Liv. 42.53, 44.2.) There was also a town of the name of Azoras in Pelagonia in Macedonia. (Strab. vii. p.327; Leake, Northern Greece, vol. iii. pp. 319, 342.)
