CALENTUM

CALENTUM (prob. Cazalla near Alaniz), a town of Hispania Baetica, famous for its manutacture of a sort of tiles light enough to swim on water (Plin. Nat. 35.14. s. 49; Vitr. 2.3; comp. Strab. xiii. p.615; Schneider, ad Eclog. Phys. p. 88; Caro, Antig. 3.70). It is supposed to be the city of the Callenses Emanici, mentioned by Pliny (3.1. s. 3).
