CA´NTABER OCEANUS (Καντάβριος ὠκεανός: Bay of Biscay), the great bay of the Atlantic, formed by the W. coast of Gaul and the N. coast of Spain, and named after the CANTABRI on the latter coast. (Claudian. 29.74; Ptol. 2.6.75, 8.4.2.)
