CARAE

CARAE (Κάραι κώμαι. Diod. 17.27), a small place mentioned by Diodorus, and probably in Sittacene, one of the SE. districts of Assyria. It has been conjectured by Mannert (5.2. p. 342) that it was situated in the neighbourhood of Kesri-Shírín, on the river Holwan.
