CA´RREA POTE´NTIA

CA´RREA POTE´NTIA a town of Lioguria, mentioned only by Pliny (3.5. s. 7), who enumerates it among the “nobilia oppida” which adorned that province on the N. side of the Apennines. No other trace is found of it; and its site has been variously fixed at Chieri near Turin, and at Carrù on the Tanaro, a few miles S. of Bene; the latter has perhaps the best claim.
