CHARADRIAE

CHARADRIAE (Χαραδρίαι), a town on the N. coast of the peninsula of Acte, mentioned by Scylax (p. 26), which Colonel Leake (North. Greece, vol. iii. p. 152) identifies with Vatopedhi (Βατοπέδιον), the most ancient of all the monasteries in Mt. Athos, as it was founded by Constantine the Great.
