CISSA

CISSA (Κίσσα, Plb. 3.763; Coins; Scissis, Liv. 21.60; prob. Guisona), an inland city of Hispania Citerior, in the neighbourhood of which Cn. Scipio defeated and took the Carthaginian general Hanno and the Spanish chieftain Indibilis, in the first year of the Second Punic War, B.C. 218. Some identify it with the CINNA (Κίννα) mentioned by Ptolemy (2.6.72) as a city of the Jaccetani. (Marca, Hisp. p. 202; Florez, Esp. S. 24.74; Sestini, pp. 132, 163; Num.
