CISSA

CISSA a small town on the river Aegos in the Thracian Chersonesus. (Plin. Nat. 4.18.) It is undoubtedly the same place as that called Cressa (Κρήσσα) by Scylax (p. 28). Mannert (vii. p. 191) believes that it was the same place as Aegos, and identifies it with the modem Galata.
