CU´RGIA

CU´RGIA (Κούργια, Ptol. 2.4.15) or CURIGA (Itin. Ant. p. 432; Geogr. Ray. 4.44: La Calera), a city of the Celtici, in Hispania Baetica, near the Mons Marianus (Sierra Morena), on the high road from the mouth of the Anas to Emerita Augusta. It appears to be the same place as the TURIGA, previously Ucultuniacum, of Pliny (3.3; compare Caro, Ant. 3.70; Ukert, vol. ii. pt. 1, p. 882).
