DIOCLEIA

DIOCLEIA (Διοκλεία), as the name is said to be written in one MS. of Ptolemy, though the common reading is Docela; but in one at least of the old Latin editions of Ptolemy, it is Dioclia (5.2). Diocleia is a town of Phrygia Magna, mentioned by Hierocles. There are no means of fixing its position except what Ptolemy offers. It has been conjectured that the place is represented by some ruins at the passage of the Pursek, between Kutahiyah and In-oghi; but this is only a guess.
