ENISPE

ENISPE (Ἐνίσπη), an Arcadian town mentioned by Homer, in the Catalogue of Ships, along with Rhipe and Stratia. It was impossible even in antiquity to determine the position of these towns, and Pausanias treats as absurd the opinion of those who considered them to be islands in the river Ladon. (Hom. Il.. 2.606; Strab. viii. p.388; Paus. 8.25.12.)
