HA´RPASUS

HA´RPASUS (Ἅρπασος: Harpsa), a river of Caria, flowing from south to north, and emptying itself into the Maeander. (Plin. Nat. 5.29; Steph. B. sub voce Ἅρπασα; Quint. Smnyrn. Posthonm. 10.144.) In the war against Antiochus the Romans encamped on its banks. (Liv. 38.13.)
