HYLAETHUS

HYLAETHUS or HYLAETUS (Ὕλαιθος or Ὕλαιτος), a river in Locris Ozolis, flowing through Locris near the eastern frontier of Aetolia into the Corinthian gulf. Leake supposes it to be the modern Mornó, and to have derived its name from Hyle, a town in Phocis mentioned by Stephanus B. (Dicaearch. 67; Steph. B. sub voce Ὕλη; Leake, Northern Greece, vol. ii. p. 619.) [HYLE No. 2.]
