LONGOVICUS

LONGOVICUS a town in Britain, mentioned in the Notitia, and nowhere else. It was, probably, in the neighbourhood of the Cumberland and Westmoreland lakes; but beyond this it is not safe to go further in the way of identification; though the Monumenta Britannica makes it Lancaster.
