MALLAEA

MALLAEA, MALLOEA, or MALOEA, a town of southern Perrhaebia in Thessaly, perhaps represented in name by Mológhusta, which Leake conjectures to be a corruption of Malloea, with the addition of Augusta. But as there are no remains of antiquity at Mológhusta, Leake supposes Malloea to have occupied a height; on the opposite side of the river, where are some vestiges of ancient walls. (Liv. 31.41, 36.10, 13, 39.25 ; Leake, Northern Greece, vol. iv. p. 311.)
