MEIACARIRE

MEIACARIRE (Amm. Marc. 18.6, 10; Μαϊακαριρί, Theophyl. Simoc. 1.13, ed. Bonn), a small place in Mesopotamia, mentioned by Ammianus and Theophylact. It appears to have been at no great distance from Amida. Ammianus states that it derived its name from certain cold springs which were there. (Cf. Böcking, Notit. Dignit. i. p. 418.)
