NORA

NORA (τὰ Νῶρα), a mountain fortress of Cappadocia, on the frontiers of Lycaonia, at the foot of Mount Taurus, in which Eumenes was for a whole [p. 2.446] winter besieged by Antigonus. (Diod. 18.41; Plut. Eum. 10; Corn. Nep. Eum. 5; Strab. xii. p.537.) In Strabo's time it was called Neroassus (Νηροασσός), and served as a treasury to Sicinus, who was striving to obtain the sovereignty of Cappadocia.
