NOVAS, AD, a fortress of Upper Moesia, situated on the Danube, and on the road from Viminacium to Nicomedia. (Itin. Ant. p. 218.) It lay about 48 miles E. of the former of those towns. It is identified with Kolumbatz, where there are still traces of ancient fortifications.
