OENUSSAE

OENUSSAE (Οἰνοῦσσαι, Οἰνοῦσαι).

A group of islands off the coast of Messenia. [Vol. II. p. 342b.]


2.

A group of islands between Chios and the Asiatic coast. (Hdt. 1.165; Thuc. 8.24; Steph. B. sub voce They are five in number, now called Spalmadores or Ergonisi. Pliny (v. 31. s. 38) mentions only one island.
