OLYMPE´NE

OLYMPE´NE (Ὀλυμπηνή), a district of Mysia, on the northern slope of Mount Olympus, from which [p. 2.475]it derived its name. (Strab. xii. pp. 571, 576.) The inhabitants of the district were called Olympeni (Ὀλυμπηνοί, Strab. xii. p.574; Ptol. 5.2.15) or Olympieni (Ὀλυμπιηνοί, Hdt. 7.74; comp. MYSIA).
