PALMYRE´NE

PALMYRE´NE (Παλμυρηνή, Ptol. 5.15.24), a district of Syria, so named after the city of Palmyra, and which extended S. from Chalybonitis into the desert. (Cf. Plin. Nat. 5.24. s. 21.) [T. H, D.]
