POLY´GIUM

POLY´GIUM a place on the south coast of Gallia, mentioned in the Ora Maritima of Avienus (5.611): [p. 2.646]Tenuisque censu civitas Polygium est,
Tum Mansa vicus oppidumque Naustalo.

There is nothing to say about a place for whose site there is no sufficient evidence. Menard supposed it to be Bourigues on the Etang de Tau. The name seems to be Greek, and the place may be one of the Massaliot settlements on this coast. [NAUSTALO].
