TEUGLUSSA

TEUGLUSSA (Τεύγλουσσα), an island mentioned by Thucydides (8.42, where some read Τεύτλουσσα), which, from the manner he speaks of it, must have been.situated between Syme and Halicarnassus. Stephanus B. also mentions the island on the authority of Thucydides, but calls it Teutlussa and an island of Ionia. There can be no doubt that the Scutlusa mentioned by Pliny (5.36) is the same as the Teuglussa or Teutlussa of Thucydides.
