ULCAEI LACUS
ULCAEI LACUS (
Οὐλκαῖα ἕλη), a succession of lakes and swamps in Pannonia, between the mouths of the Dravus and Savus. (
D. C. 55.32.) They seem to be the same as the Palus Hiulca mentioned by Aurelius Victor (
Epit. 41) as being near Cibalae in Pannonia. (Comp. Zosim. 2.18.)
Those lakes now bear the name of
Laxincze. [
