ULCAEI LACUS

ULCAEI LACUS (Οὐλκαῖα ἕλη), a succession of lakes and swamps in Pannonia, between the mouths of the Dravus and Savus. (D. C. 55.32.) They seem to be the same as the Palus Hiulca mentioned by Aurelius Victor (Epit. 41) as being near Cibalae in Pannonia. (Comp. Zosim. 2.18.) Those lakes now bear the name of Laxincze.
