ἀείδω (ἀϝείδω), fut. ἀείσομαι, aor. ind. ἄεισε, imp. ἄεισον, inf. ἀεῖσαι: sing—I. trans., παιήονα, κλέα ἀνδρῶν, ‘lays of heroes;’ also w. acc. of the theme of minstrelsy, μῆνιν, Il. 1.1; Ἀχαιῶν νόστον, Od. 1.326; with ὡς, Od. 8.514; acc. and inf., Od. 8.516.—II. intrans., μάλ᾽ ἀεῖσαι, ‘merrily’, λίγα, καλόν (adv.); met. of the bow-string, Od. 21.411.
