etc.; very freq. after a negation (when ἄλλος or ἕτερος precedes,
like ‘than,’ Il.
21.275), but also used like δέ
correl. to μέν, and after concessive
statements, yet, Il.
1.281; often in appeal, nay, Il. 1.32, and w. imp. or hortative subj.,
ἀλλ᾽ ἴομεν, esp. ἀλλ᾽ ἄγε, ἄγετε.
