ἀνι<*>άζω (ἀνι<*>´η), ipf. ἀνι<*>´αζον: torment, annoy, weary, Il. 23.721, Od. 19.323; usually intrans., be tormented, wearied; θυ_μῷ ἀνι_άζων, agonized at heart, of the mortally wounded Eurymachus, Od. 22.87; similarly Il. 21.270, Od. 4.460; often weakened colloquially, ἠδή μοι ἀνι_άζουσιν ἑταῖροι, ‘are worrying’ by this time, Od. 4.598; ironically, Il. 18.300.
