αἰθήρ : the upper air, or
sky, aether;
αἰθέρι ναίων, of Zeus, dweller in the
heavens; more exactly conceived as having οὐρανός beyond it, Il.
2.458; separated from the lower α?ήρ by the clouds, as Hera in Il. 15.20 swings ἐν αἰθέρι καὶ
νεφέλῃσιν.
