ἕως, εἵως, εἷος : (1) as long as, until; foll. by the usual constructions with rel. words (see ἄν, κέν). A clause introduced by ἕως often denotes purpose, Od. 4.800, Od. 9.376.—(2) like τέως, for a while, usually with μέν, Od. 2.148, etc. —ἕως, to be read with ‘synizesis,’ except Od. 2.78.
