ἐπ - έρχομαι , fut. inf. ἐπελεύσεσθαι, aor. ἐπῆλθον, ἐπήλυθον, perf. ἐπελήλυθα: come or go to or upon, come on; of the ‘arrival’ of times and seasons, Od. 10.175, Il. 8.488; the ‘approach’ of sleep or sickness, Od. 4.793, Od. 11.200; and often in hostile sense, ‘attack,’ esp. the part., Il. 15.406, Il. 4.334; mostly w. dat., but w. acc. in the sense ‘visit,’ ‘haunt,’ ‘traverse,’ ἄγκεα, Il. 18.321; γαῖαν, Od. 4.268; ἀγρούς, Od. 16.27; τμήδην, ‘struck and grazed,’ Il. 7.262.
