and ἕατο and εἵατο: sit; often w. a part. to denote
some condition of mind or body, ἧστο
ὀδυ_ρόμενος, θαυμάζων, ὀλιγηπελέων, etc.; and, in
general, the verb may denote a settled condition of any sort,
‘stay,’ ‘keep,’ ἑκὰς ἥμεθα πατρίδος αἴης,
