οἷος, οἵη, οἷον : relative word, (such) as, of what sort (qualis), with antecedent τοῖος expressed or implied. It may be causal in effect, also exclamatory, αἵματος εἶς ἀγαθοῖο, φίλον τέκος, οἰ̔̂ ἀγορεύεις, ‘such words you speak,’ = ὅτι τοῖα, Od. 4.611; οἷον δή νυ θεοὺς βροτοὶ αἰτιόωνται, ‘how mortals do, etc.!’ Od. 1.32; foll. by inf., as implying capability, οἷος ἐκεῖνος ἔην βουλευέμεν, ‘such a man was he to plan,’ Od. 14.491; freq. the neut. οἷον, οἷα, as adv., as, how, what (sort), etc. οἷα τε in comparisons, οἷον δή exclamatory and causal, Od. 9.128, Od. 11.429.
