πρό-φρων , ονος (φρήν): adj., regularly used not as attributive but as adverb, cheerfully), graciously), kind- (ly), zealously), earnestly; ironical, πρόφρων κεν δὴ ἔπειτα Δία λιτοίμην, ‘in good earnest,’ i. e. I could not do it, Od. 14.406; as adj., θυ_μῷ πρόφρονι, Il. 8.40.—Adv., προφρονέως (Il.).
