48 καὶ ὅσα The sentence is still continued from πῶς οὐκ ἂν εἴη ἄτοπον, εἰ. Hence the optative ὑπολάβοιτε.

[μὴ χρήσαισθε is more regular than the manuscript reading μὴ χρῆσθε. Like ποιήσαιτε in the first half of the first of the three pairs of clauses, it is dependent on πῶς οὐκ ἂν εἴη ἄτοπον, εἰ. S.]

τεκταινομένοις Patched up, fabricated, put together. Ar. Equit. 462 ταυτὶ μὰ τὴν Δήμητρά μ᾽ οὐκ ἐλάνθανεν τεκταινόμενα τὰ πράγματ̓. Or. 56 § 11 τῷ ἀρχιτέκτονι τῆς ὅλης ἐπιβουλῆς.

ἐκ παρασκευῆς As the result of a plot.

πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον αὑτῷ Supply βλέπων ἔλεγε.
